Carnival Legend Day 8 - Russia day 2

We are Tallinn, Estonia bound! We had another awesome day in St. Petersburg Russia.  Words are just not enough and it takes so long to download the pictures that I can’t even fully give you the beauty we saw until I am home and back with high speed internet!

We had another early morning breakfast at 5:30 am and remember we are in a huge time warp.  But we have been pushing through.  After breakfast we were heading out to go through immigration/customs and back on our bus.

First stop Catherine’s Palace after about an hour drive out into the country side of St Petersburg!  What a beautiful and place!

We had to wear little booties to cover our shoes to protect the floors.

Catherine never wore the same dress twice and each family member had 15 people serving them!  This was the summer residence of the Tsars! There is a room in the house that houses Amber of all types.  No pictures were allowed in that room but it was beautiful. But here are a few I took in other rooms.

The gardens were wonderful and there was an outdoor pavilion where 5 gentlemen sang Acapulco in Russia for us.

Afterwards we were off to lunch.  Again we were served so elegantly and today we all voted was the best food out of the two days! But we all agree too that the Russian hospitality for us was really great.   We had a yummy fresh salad, chicken noodle soup and mashed potatoes with beef stroganoff.  Desert was a small dish of vanilla ice cream!

Michael not so found of the coffee which really was espresso. LOL

Then we were off to the Winter Palace was built in 1754 for Empress Elizabeth the daughter of Peter the Great but she died before the palace’s completion. Today the Winter Palace together with four more buildings arranged side by side along the river embankment houses the extensive collection of The State Hermitage Museum!  We saw the infamous Rembrandt of The Prodigal Son portrait!

The Prodigal Son portrait!
(not able to get a good picture lots of people crowded around)

We all have so many fun stories to share about the last two days in Russia.  Some of our stories will have you rolling on the floor crying.  But that is for another day since it would not be fair that I get to share all the fun!

We arrived back to ship just in time for dinner a very long fun filled day. Tonight we finally get to set back the clocks an hour!  Oh how happy are we another hour of sleep and we don't have to eat breakfast before sunlight.  Wandering around Tallinn and shopping tomorrow on our own.

Look who is visiting us tonight!!!

Stay tune for more adventures!
