Assisi is generally regarded as the birthplace of the Latin poet Propertius, born around 50–45 BC. It is the birthplace of St. Francis, who founded the Franciscan religious order in the town in 1208, and St. Clare (Chiara d'Offreducci), the founder of the Poor Sisters, which later became the Order of Poor Clares after her death. The 19th-century Saint Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows was also born in Assisi.
Once we arrived in Assisi we met up with our local guide for a walking tour through the town of Assisi and tours of St Clare’s church and St Francis’ Basilica. We wer not able to take any pictures of the inside of the churches that had many priceless frescoes on their walls.
The town was very quaint although very crowded since it was a Saturday.
Below is called the New Gate which was built in the 13th Century! The escalator up the hill was being worked on so we had quite the climb! 😬

We left the little town and headed to our hotel for the one night!
A little fun picture for you all! The hotel we stayed in an old hotel in Lido in Venice and all the rooms were different but I think we had the most challenging room!! Remember y’all I am vertically challenged and this is the picture of me next to our tub/shower!🤦♀️
Challenging to say the least! 😆
Off to Pompeii today to see the ruins. Then to Naples and to Capri for 2 nights!
Hard to believe we are almost to the end of this trip! Stay tuned for more fun from Italy!
