Salt Lake City 9/17/17

We have had a wonderful trip and our day in SLC was just a nice.  Most of our group went to hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir perform this morning and Susan, Michael and I walked around the area while they were gone.  Beautiful weather for a walk and we got our steps!  Wonder how I will ever keep the steps up once I return home?!

Sunrise this morning from our hotel room!

I may have done this again....went to breakfast and came back up to leave for our walk and looked down and yep 2 different shoes again!  Susan quickly snapped a picture. LOL  I have a problem it seems.

Home of the Utah Jazz basketball team

We took a ride on the trolley cars this afternoon all through the free zones.

Such a pretty shot of the mountains but the construction kind of ruins it.

Walking around there is water flowing in the ditch line and a lady told us in the spring time it is even more beautiful with the daffodils in bloom.

After our walk and touring the city we had a nice dinner and now we are all packing up to head home tomorrow.  Hope you have enjoyed our journey and we can't wait to be home and see our families.

By the way steps yesterday were not good since we didn't make a lot of stops - 5,588 ~ 2.18 miles

But today 15,487 ~ 6.09 miles

Since 9/7 - 9/17 I have the following stats on my Fitbit!

  • 122,305
     steps

  •    101
     floors

  •      47.93
     miles
  • Jackson Hole, WY to Salt Lake City, Utah 9/16/17

Sadly we left  Jackson Hole behind leaving the Teton range and headed toward the Snake River range of mountains.    I think we all really enjoyed that little town a lot!

We passed by Harrison Ford's property then headed Star Valley which is 20 miles long and 10 miles wide.  We stopped in Afton, WY for a bit of chocolate and coffee break.  Some of the best homemade chocolate I have eaten. Check out the Elk Antler arch in Afton!  These do not come from killing elk the elk shed them every winter and people collect them.

     Bear Lake

We traveled through a beautiful small canyon called Logan's Canyon.  It was so pretty and we encountered cows crossing the road. Not a good picture but it did happen. ;) Bus moved through the canyon which was winding and hard to take photos but here are a few.

     Utah State Capital Building!

     Beautiful flowers everywhere!

After arriving in Salt Lake City and checking into hotel we had a farewell dinner with all our new travel friends.  We stay and extra day in SLC!

    Jackson Hole 9/15/17

What more can I say the Rustic Inn is comfy and set in the valley of the Tetons and we have all enjoyed staying here and roaming about the town.

We had a yummy breakfast.  Here is some of our group enjoying eating and talking.

Today after breakfast a few of us went shopping and the others of us went off to get our steps in and explore the town more.  Pictures along the way for your enjoyment. :)

After walking for a  while we decided to find Cafe Genevieve to get a hot chocolate/coffee.  Michael quickly pulls it up on his phone and off we go.  We lost Mark and David and we were sure they had found a short cut.  After much walking and them finding us it was quickly discovered that Michael's phone was not directing us properly.  We had to turn around a back track.  But we did get a lot of steps in during that walk and saw an interesting fence.

Finally we find the Cafe only to discover there is an hour and fifteen minute wait.

So we go next door to the Healthy Being Cafe and Juicery! Let's say it took them longer to make the hot cacao than for Michael and Susan to drink it and here is Michael's reaction he was not a fan at all of "healthy" it was totally unsweetened.

A stop to have a visit with the local bear....NO no real bear sightings. :(

While waiting for the hot cacao David found the firehouse and off we go for a photo op.

Yep those will be my bear sightings! lol

Then we explored and shopped and visited two  museums ~ Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum and the Native American History.

Then we may have shopped some more and explored more. ;)

I am sure we have seen pretty much all of the town not once but three times and that includes the stores!

Back to rest up for dinner at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar! Freida, Mark and I shared a John Wayne steak dinner....salad, 30 oz steak, Brussels sprouts and smashed potatoes to share between the 3 of us.  Very yummy!

Drum roll I have 16,166 steps 6.37 miles.

They expect snow here in the morning. It has rained off an on here all day as I am sure you can see by the pictures. It is getting colder here so I am thinking that we will see some snow before we head out in the morning.  There are some pretty excited people ready to see snow.  That would mean we would have seen pretty much all the seasons along the way. ;)

Off to Salt Lake City Utah in the morning bright and early!  Stay tuned.....
