In Ireland this is called sillage!
Required firehouse picture!
An old firehouse turned into business
1st stop was at Dualla House which is a bed & breakfast and a working farm circa 1798.
We were first served tea and scones and then a tour of the house then out for a sheep herding demonstration. It was amazing to watch the border collies work the sheep around the fields. Border Collies name comes from the dogs being from the border of Scotland and England. Thus the name border collie!
Back on the bus to head to Cork Co. and see the Blarney Castle and Kiss the Blarney Stone. Some scenery from our travels there!
Rock of Cashel - parts of this has been used for 3000 years
Yes this is another firehouse!!!! LOL
Arrived at the Blarney Castle to find out the stone is at the top of the old castle ruin with very narrow stairway and I bailed cause I don't like those stairways. However, everyone else went and the kissers of the stone were Frieda, Susan, Michael and Shirley! Yep they all have pictures to prove they kissed the stone.
Climbing the stairs to the top of the castle!
Looking up from the ground to the top where you kiss the stone
Picture of the picture of Michael kissing the Blarney Stone ("Stone of Eloquence")!
Afterwards we were back on the bus and headed to Killarney in Co. Kerry.
William Penn the 1st Governor of PA ancestry home
Tucked in that entry way is a fire house....see the red doors?
We have stayed in so many great places I have included a few pics that I thought would show you our accommodations.
Check out this hair dryer we had in Dublin that I swear looked like a vacuum cleaner and didn't work the best but hey it was here and I didn't have to bring one.
Both the Dublin and here at the Killarney Avenue Hotel you have to put your key in the slot to keep your lights on in the room. Saves people leaving lights on when they are not in their room cause you take your card out and the lights go out soon afterward.
Had dinner here at the hotel then a show performed by Liam O'Conner an Irish accordion musician along with his talented band, singer and dancers.
Sunset here at 9:30 pm out our rooms window
Stay tuned.....lots of fun planned for tomorrow!
