Krems Austria ~ 11/28/18

Yay finally I am getting this posted.  Technology is great when it is working for you.

We woke up to the sun rising in Krems!  What a beautiful sight after several days of rain and snow.

Off to breakfast always something there to please everyone.

Thought you would like to see some pictures of our cabin on the Viking Alta. This is of course our second ship due to the low river. We have the same cabin and cabin number from ship to ship.

In  Krems we were taken by bus to the Göttweig Abbey a UNESCO World Heritage site.  It is a Benedictine Abbey with approximately 40 monks currently living and working at the Abbey. I have shared quite a few pictures of the Abbey as it was spectacular.

Our first sighting of the Abbey.

Part of the Apricot Orchard at the Abbey.  They had apricot everything for sale even a pretzel that was actually very delicious.....no there is not a picture of those they were gobbled right up. ;)

 Pipe organ in the Abbey

The Crypt at the Göttweig Abbey where the Monks hold their morning mass just for them.

A much small organ although impressive in the Crypt.

 Views from the Abbey

 View from the bus

After our visit to Göttweig Abbey we returned to the ship for lunch and an afternoon and evening of sailing on the Danube.

Double trouble..😆

After lunch he discovered there was Duck on the buffet at the Aquavit Terrace where they serve a light lunch and dinner.

Beautiful scenery as we travel up the Danube

 Sunset on the Danube River

We had a cookie and gingerbread house demonstration while we were sailing.

Dinner time again....

Stay tuned I am hopeful that I can get yesterday posted before tomorrow.
