Italy Day 9

Ahh our last day in Italy. We decided to get up early..5:30 am 🤦‍♀️ eat breakfast at 6:30 and to go on the walking tour  in the Vatican City to see the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. Although we have been before we decided to go with the group on the walking tour. 🤔 Turns out maybe that wasn’t one of our best ideas especially since we had been before. It was so HOT 🥵 and so crowded. 🤷‍♀️ We had the best guide she tried to keep us in the shade and if there were available seats she spotted them for us. Here are a few pictures for you from the tour and information on Vatican City.

Michelangelo's La Pietà

After the tour we headed back to hotel then lunch at our favorite restaurant Benso’s again.  I forgot to take a picture of the tomato soup I got.  It was so good too. Can you see by the choices we are ready for american style food.😉

After a brief rest and showers we went to a restaurant for our farewell dinner called Papa Rex’s.

We had some Italian entertainment during our dinner.

After dinner back to our hotel to finish up packing to prepare for trip home the next day! Whew what a whirlwind week.  Even though we had been there before and it was hot and crowded the memories of the concerts and the people that came to hear the music. Their smiles, singing and claping along to songs will live forever in my heart. That was what this trip was all about for us.

Italy Day 8

So yes I am late with the blog today!!

Yesterday we slept in and decided to not go on the walking tour of Ancient Rome since we had a our concert at 8 pm.  The guys did a "walk about" and by the time they returned they were drenched... have I mentiioned it is HOT! 😂 Also the reason the six of us came on the trip was to sing at the concerts for the people.  We have all been to Italy and have seen what they are seeing.

Here are a few of the pictures they took while they were out with some links

After the guys returned we headed to a little restaurant next to our hotel for lunch. If you are ever in or near the Monti Neighborhood in Rome and it is right next almost to the Grand Hotel Palatino.  We had the most wonderful service and food.

Ham Pizza

Chef Salad

Margherita Pizza

Anchovie Pizzza - wonder who ordered that one?

That was me that ordered a cheeseburger. Those fries were sooooo good.

Dessert was a Gelato with 3 different flavors very good also.

After lunch it was time to return to hotel and get ready for the concert.  We arranged a cab to take us to II Gelato di San Crispino. Our Pastor, Dr Drew, recommended to Susan and Mark.

Next we headed off to the church for our rehearsal and then the concert. Along the way I saw this little sign and looked down....people are just not considerate sometimes.

Trevi Fountain was along the way and as you can see there are lots and lots of people everywhere.

Our concert was at the Church of St  Ignatius of Loyola.

The accoustics in the church were wonderful. The crowd were engaged and some sang along with us.  It was a wonderful last concert for us to see all the smiles and engagement.

After the concert it was back to hotel and to bed for us! It was way past my bed time.
